Committee Vacancies & Request to be a Delegate!

At the CUPE 1281 2026 Convention on July 13, elections were held for each of the membership committees. There are still available spots if you would like to get involved with your union! Also, you can express interest to become a delegate to a labour council or district council.

CUPE 1281 Committee Vacancies

There is still room on the three committees of the Local if you would like to get involved!

  • Organizing Committee (3 vacancies): Chaired by the President, this committee approves and assists with organizing drives recommended by the executive committee.
  • Governance Committee (2 vacancies): Chaired by the Vice-President, this committee works on and proposes changes to the Local’s bylaws and policies.
  • Membership Development Committee (3 vacancies): Chaired by the Equity Officer, this committee works on campaigns to engage the membership and to address workplace equity issues.

Express Interest to be a Labour/District Council Delegate

In previous years, 1281 has tried to fill every delegate seat we are entitled to. This year, in an effort to affiliate only where there is membership interest and participation, the local will send delegates to a labour or district council upon member request.
