CUPE 1281 has some bittersweet staffing changes to announce. Ryan London, our diligent and amazing full-time Staff Representative, has left her position to take on a new role at the Ontario Nurses Association.

Ryan has worked for us since 2023. Many members have had the privilege to work with her and come to know her as a compassionate and conscientious unionist. Ryan worked every day to represent members both in fighting against concessions at the bargaining table, and by being a receptive ear for member issues throughout our workplaces. We are going to miss Ryan immensely, but know that she will continue to be a passionate advocate for workers’ rights and justice in her new role, and in the community. We wish Ryan all the best at the ONA!

With Ryan’s departure, Michael Butler, previously the term part-time Staff Representative, will transition into the full-time role. We are happy to announce that Darren Puscas will once again join our team as a part-time term employee until Alannah Fricker’s return from leave.

Stewards from units previously represented by Ryan can expect to hear from their new rep soon. Thank you for your understanding during this transition period.
